Bandar seri begawan: A local man was brought to Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court on 16th June on one charge under the Excise Order 2006, for possessing cigarettes of various brands without a valid permit.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Ali bin Haji Hassan, aged 45, was found guilty for possessing six cartons and 121 packets of cigarettes of various brands at a house in the RPN Kampung Panchor Mengkubau area on 23rd January. Additionally, authorities found cash amounting to $317 BND. The accused pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a fine of $14,400 Brunei Dollars or 14 months imprisonment in default. All contrabands involved were seized and handed over to the government for further action.
