Kuala belait: A local woman was fined by the Kuala Belait Magistrate’s Court for possessing 33 cartons of cigarettes of various brands without a valid permit. Norasfizah Binti Haji Bakir, aged 35, faced penalties for her actions as the court took a strong stance against the smuggling of tobacco products.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Norasfizah Binti Haji Bakir was fined $33,000. In the event of non-payment, she faces a 14-month imprisonment. The court also ordered that all the contraband cigarettes be seized and destroyed, highlighting the severity of the offense and the legal consequences of bypassing customs regulations.
