One new case of COVID-19 infection was confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases in Brunei Darussalam to 174 cases. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, the Minister of Health shared the matter in a media conference on the latest situation of COVID-19 in Brunei Darussalam, yesterday afternoon.
Case 174 is a 28 year old man who arrived in the country on the 30th of December 2020 from India on BI 4112 flight. He showed no signs of infection and is currently being monitored and treated at the National Isolation Centre. Contact tracing for the case is still being conducted.
Meanwhile, with the detection of the new case, a total of 18 cases are being treated at the National Isolation Centre. One case that was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit for intensive monitoring and treatment has gradually recovered and is being treated at the medical ward in the National Isolation Centre, while the rest are in stable condition.
A total of 33 import cases have been confirmed since the last local infection case was reported on the 6th of May 2020, where Brunei Darussalam has recorded 251 days without COVID-19 local infection cases.
Yesterday, a total of 593 individuals are undergoing mandatory self-isolation at the monitoring centers provided by the Government, which are individuals that have just arrived in this country after traveling from abroad. Presently, a total of 11,096 individuals have completed their mandatory self-isolation at the monitoring centers.
In the past 24 hours, a total of 235 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus bringing the total number of lab tests conducted since January 2020 to 85,871 tests.
