His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in a titah highlights the importance for Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic to further deepen their commitment to the ASEAN region, particularly in facing global challenges and building a strong and united ASEAN Community that will create more opportunities for their peoples and prepare them well for the future. His Majesty delivered the titah at the Official Banquet in honour of His Excellency Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and delegation at Istana Nurul Iman.
Before the Official Banquet, His Majesty received in audience His Excellency.
Present at the Official Banquet were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;
His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;
His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;
His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Wakeel;
His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; and
Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Also in attendance were His Excellecny Saleumxay Kommasith, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao People's Democratic Republic; and Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd. Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as the Minister-in-Attendance.
The Official Banquet began with the recitation of a Doa Selamat by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr.) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.
In the titah, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam says His Excellency's visit is very significant in further strengthening the much valued relations and hopes to continue cooperating closely in exploring opportunities that will bring mutual benefit and prosperity as both countries aspire towards achieving their national visions.
His Majesty adds another important feature of the bilateral relations is people to people ties. His Majesty is happy to see Lao students pursuing their studies under the Brunei Darussalam Government Scholarships.
In his return address, the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic touches on the friendly relations between the two countries, not only as members of ASEAN but also as close partners. This, adds His Excellency reflects the support that has long existed at the bilateral, regional and international levels.
According to His Excellency, the official visit marks another important contribution towards further improving the good relations and cooperation between the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Brunei Darussalam.
His Excellency the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and delegation were in the country for a two-day Official Visit. In a joint statement, both leaders reiterated their commitment to further enhance the two countries' friendship for their mutual benefit and acknowledged that continuous efforts are ongoing to strengthen and diversify existing cooperation. The Leaders also exchanged views and agreed to enhance cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
