6,650 cartons of cigarettes of various brands were seized during the COVID-19 Joint Taskforce operation on the 16th of July. The operation was carried out by the Company ‘C’ Police Reserve Force, the Royal Brunei Police Force and the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.
During the operation, the patrol team followed two suspicious vehicles in the Kampung Junjongan area. Noticing the presence of the patrol team, the two drivers fled to the border area. As a result of the inspection, the patrol team found a black box package containing cigarettes were placed in a roadside area not far from the abandoned vehicle. The contraband were brought to the Limau Manis Police Station for preliminary investigation and subsequently handed over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further action.
