Since the implementation of the Syariah Penal Code on the 1st of May 2014 until the full enforcement of provisions under the Syariah Penal Code in 2019, 1,091 cases were recorded in the Syariah Subordinate Court, 681 cases in Syariah High Court and 16 cases registered in the Syariah Appeal Court. Yang Amat Arif Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Awang Haji Besar, Chief Syari’e Judge shared the matter while presenting a paper work at the Nusantara Syariah Judicial and Legal Conference 2020 via online yesterday afternoon, titled ‘Aplikasi Maqasid Syari’yyah Dalam Penggubalan Kanun Hukuman Jenayah Syariah: Kronologi Dan Gambaran Keseluruhan’.
The Chief Syari’e Judge also explained on how far the Syariah Penal Code has been implementation since its enforcement, and the government’s measures to eradicate crime.
Meanwhile in another working paper presentation titled ‘Maqasid Syariah Dalam Penyelesaian Kes Di Lembaga Rayuan Singapura’, Yang Amat Arif Alfian Yasrif bin Kuchit, Senior President, Syariah Court of Singapore explained that the Administration of Muslim Law Act, AMLA in Singapore gave power such as to the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, MUIS to administer religious affairs pertaining to mosques, madrasah or religious schools, endowment tithe and fatwa.
Meanwhile, the working paper of Doctor Haji Amran Suadi from the Supreme Court, Republic of Indonesia titled ‘Penerapan Maqashid Al-Syariah oleh Peradilan Agama di Indonesia Dalam Memutus Perkara’ was presented by Doctor Haji Yasardin.
