Thawee tosses the NACC to investigate the case of Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth meeting Thaksin on the 14th floor of the Police General Hospital, reiterating that it is not the duty of the Corrections Department, requesting to hear evidence from all parties.
Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, spoke about the case of the argument between the Director-General of the Corrections Department and Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth Temiyawes, leader of the Seri Ruam Thai Party, regarding the issue of Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth visiting former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, saying that the issue is under investigation by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). In principle, cooperation with the NACC is required. As the Corrections Department’s executive, if there is any part that needs to be improved to comply with the law, he would like to state that according to the Corrections Department Act, when a prisoner is issued a detention warrant, there will be a place prepared: 1. Prison, 2. Hospital, and 3. Other detenti
on centers. In this case, the Human Rights Commission, the Ombudsman, and the NACC have investigated and the Corrections Department has already provided information. Various regulations were issued before the current government came into power.
Pol. Col. Thawee added that the Ministry of Justice has no duty to investigate this matter because there is an independent organization like the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) already investigating. They must listen to information from Pol. Gen. Sereepisuth. As for the CCTV footage from the Police General Hospital, it is evidence that belongs to the hospital. They must ask the hospital whether they can disclose it or not. However, the Department of Corrections already has its own process.
