The poor and destitute in the country continue to receive due attention and care from the government. Today, some 90 selected heads of family of the poor and destitute in the Belait and Tutong districts received basic necessities from Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB tithe collections. The presentation of donations was held this morning.
At the Zainab Mosque in Lumut, 30 heads of family received the donations from Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs as the President of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council. The handing over of the contributions was assisted by members of the Mosque Takmir Committee and Muslimah group with the cooperation of the Mosque Youth group. Such a program has made the mosque as the key centre of organising welfare activities in further glorifying the mosque.
At the Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait, 27 heads of family received contributions from Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Japar bin Haji Mat Dain @Haji Maidin, Deputy State Mufti who is also a member of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council and member of the Tithe Money Issuance Committee. Apart from assisting the less fortunate in the area, the welfare programme also bringing youths to get involve towards becoming a responsible individuals.
