Price Control Act, Chapter 142

Two business premises were issued compound fines for failing to comply with the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 and Regulations. The findings are the result of daily routine enforcement carried out by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Economy.

Syarikat Raimmar Sendirian Berhad failed to display price tags clearly, that is the price tag display was not consistent with the price recorded in the payment system. Meanwhile, Syarikat Jaya Hypermarket Sendirian Berhad failed to display the price tag for some milk powder products sold. Both companies were issued a compound amounting $500 each.

Businesses are reminded to always practice appropriate and ethical business practices by complying to regulations and laws including the Price Control Act, Chapter 142. Businesses’ compliance in implementing ethical business practices can help develop resilient domestic consumption.
