Religious Leaders Attend Ceremony for Zulhijjah Moon Sighting

Bandar Seri Begawan: The Religious Ceremony while awaiting the results of the moon sighting for Zulhijjah 1446 Hijrah took place late this afternoon. The Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB, convened after the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Di-Pertua of MUIB. Other dignitaries present included Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development.

The event featured the reading of the Al-Quran and a short talk, followed by the mass fardhu Maghrib prayer. The ceremony underscored the significance of the moon sighting in determining the Islamic calendar and was marked by the presence of key religious and government figures.
