Bandar seri begawan: The Forestry Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has partnered with Borneo Eco-Resort Sendirian Berhad to develop, operate, and maintain infrastructure at the Berakas Forest Recreation Park. The project aims to establish a resort of international standards, enhancing tourism experiences and attracting both local and international visitors. The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism stated that the initiative will create employment opportunities and promote conservation-based tourism.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the collaboration with an international hospitality brand is expected to catalyze greater private-sector investments in future tourism projects. The project promises an adventure and nature-based experience that aligns development with environmental conservation, ensuring the protection of the natural environment for future generations.
Representatives at the signing ceremony included Awang Reni bin Haji Yahya, Acting Director of Forestry, and Dato Ting Jack Chai, General Manager of Borneo Eco-Resort Sendirian Berhad. The Berakas Forest Recreational Park is anticipated to be a key ecotourism destination due to its strategic location and accessibility.
