This advisory follows the viral issue on social media titled "Civil Servant Publicly Sharing and Mocking Government Housing Applications." The Department of Community Development, JAPEM, wishes to inform the public that the allegation that the individual is employed by JAPEM is false.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the department assures that the security of all applicants is always a top priority, ensuring that such data remains safeguarded, secure, and protected. All application processes are carried out in accordance with the procedures and guidelines established by the department. Additionally, all officers and staff of the Department of Community Development are bound by the Official Secrets Act Chapter 5 of Chapter 153 concerning the confidentiality of government information. The Department of Community Development takes the unfounded allegations very seriously and has reported this matter to the authorities.
Furthermore, the department reminds the public that the act of disseminating false or fabricated information with the intention of misleading others is an offense under the Public Order Act, Chapter 148, Section 34. Any individual who spreads false reports or makes false statements that disrupt public order may face imprisonment for up to three years, a fine of $3,000, or both.
