At 11.20 am, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, held a bilateral (pull-aside) discussion with Mr. Lawrence Wong, Prime Minister of Singapore during the 44th-45th ASEAN Summit to continue the important alliance and partnership in all dimensions of both countries. From this discussion, the two leaders agreed on economic cooperation in the second half of this year (2024), with Singapore being the number one country for foreign direct investment (FDI) in Thailand. The Thai government places importance on the digital economy, AI, and digital transportation, and would like Singapore to provide support. In addition, Thailand and Singapore also have cooperation on food security, with Thailand wanting Singapore to support the export of Thai agricultural and food products, such as organic eggs and pork. In terms of tourism, it is necessary to support and increase tourism between the two countries. In terms of military cooperation, both sides agreed to expand the agreement on joint armed forces training, as well as continue cooperation on cybersecurity and natural disasters. Ms. Paethongtarn confirmed to Singapore that she is ready to welcome the President of Singapore during his official visit to Thailand on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.
