The 3rd International Symposium on Innovative Teaching and Learning

Educators are encouraged to continue to improve the quality of their teaching and their learning programmes, and to work closely with each other and build strong relationships with one another. At the same time they should continue to challenge the traditional workscope they normally use for the students. The Minister of Education made the call at the 3rd International Symposium on Innovative Teaching and Learning, ISITL, 2017. Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman said that the country's educators need to be offered opportunities to be bold and use innovations for enhancing learning, and not fear such advancement in technology.

Meanwhile, in his keynote address, Associate Professor Mark Pegrum from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Western Australia in Perth touched on the use of mobile devices as a replacement for computers rather than a complement to the student as a learning platform. Themed "Mobile Learning and Innovation in Technologies", more than 200 participants mainly from Politeknik Brunei and local higher education institutions attended the 2 day symposium. The symposium is a platform in learning the best practices from international and local presenters promote the use of mobile technology to shape the way in delivering lessons, and encourage the use of pedagogical approaches in innovative ways.
