Bandar seri begawan: By command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, it is hereby announced that His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has consented to the revision of the current members of the Religious Council of Brunei Darussalam.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the revision includes the appointment of Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Minister of Religious Affairs, as the President of the Religious Council of Brunei Darussalam. The date of his appointment as President was effective from Thursday, 17th Zulhijjah, 1447, corresponding to 4th June, 2026, upon his appointment as the Minister of Religious Affairs.
Additionally, Yang Mulia Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Deputy Minister of Education and member of the Religious Council, has been appointed as the Vice President of the Religious Council. Furthermore, Yang Arif Awang Haji Hassan bin Haji Metali, Syariah High Court Judge, has been appointed as a new member of the Religious Council. These appointments for the Vice President and the new member are effective from Tuesday, 7th of Muharram, 1448, corresponding to 23rd of June, 2026.
