Kuching: A short film by a Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) student has won the Best Poetic Film Award in the ASEAN UniFest SDG Short Film Competition 2025. The film, titled “Apathy” (2024), aligns with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and was recognized for its thematic depth and artistic presentation.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the awards were announced during the ASEAN UniFest Competition Award Ceremony, part of the ASEAN International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) held in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. “Apathy” (2024) emerged as the only Bruneian film among more than 150 submissions from universities across the ASEAN region to win the prestigious Best Poetic Film Award. The film’s achievement highlights the creative talent and dedication of the student from UBD in addressing global themes through cinematic expression.
