The Ministry of Development has visited several Disaster Management Projects in the Brunei Muara yesterday in order to tackle the areas that have been affected with natural disasters. The visit was led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suhaimi bin Haji Gafar, the Minister of Development and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Minister of Development.
Also visited were several repair projects of landslides and flooding areas. About 60 projects are being carried out under the Natural Disaster and Epidemics Management Special Allocation by the Public Works Department, Ministry of Development. Every year, the country will experience the floods and landslides expecially during monsoon season. Also participated the visit were Awang Haji Amer Hishamuddin bin Pehin Orang Kaya Amar Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Zakaria, Permanent Secretary for Infrustructure, Housing and Professional at the Ministry of Development and Dayang Hajah Siti Aidah binti Haji Mohammad, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Construction Industry and Development at the Ministry of Development and Awang Haji Salleh bin Haji Abd Karim, Acting Head Director of Public Works.
The government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has allocated some 30 million dollars to manage the effect of natural disasters throughout the country. About 50 percent of the project have been fully completed, while the remaining are still under the process of implementation and offering.
The visit aimed to further review and observe the development of the projects and ensure the projects run smoothly and qualify the quality and estimated time completion.
