Cyber-attacks through ransomware known as 'WannaCry' have affected more than 100 countries worldwide. 'WannaCry' can execute itself by blocking computer software or data from being accessed until users are compelled to pay a certain amount of money.
However, the National Security Committee through the Cyber Security Working Committee will continue to monitor developments pertaining to this matter and urge the general public to take necessary precautions such as by deleting suspicious emails, not clicking on any suspicious links, by updating computer systems using the latest antivirus software and to immediately perform vital data backup. Any cyber security incidents can be reported to Brunei Computer Emergency Response Team (BruCERT) hotline (673)2458001 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
