Workshop on Wetland Management and Conservation Highlights Brunei’s Commitment to Ecological Stewardship

Kiulap: Wetlands are living systems that connect people, nature, and prosperity. Hence, their protection is fundamental to achieving both environmental integrity and human resilience. This was shared by the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism at the launching of the Opening Ceremony of the Workshop on Wetland Management and Conservation, Ramsar Convention. The event took place in Kiulap, 29th October morning.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Dayang Noralinda binti Haji Ibrahim stated that 21 per cent of the country’s land area comprises wetlands, reflecting not only Brunei Darussalam’s conservation legacy but also its ongoing commitment to balancing national development with ecological stewardship. The 3-day workshop marks an important step in introducing an integrated approach to wetland management in the country while strengthening regional and global cooperation.
