World Health Organization’s 156th Executive Meeting Convenes in Geneva

Geneva: Health Ministers and representatives from several member countries of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization attended the 156th Executive Meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, which takes place from the 3rd until the 11th of February. The Brunei Darussalam delegation to the meeting was led by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the meeting discusses the agenda as well as resolutions and decisions to be considered by the World Health Assembly, while the second meeting serves to implement the decisions and policies that have been approved and provide guidance to facilitate the work of the WHO in general.

During the World Health Assembly last year, Brunei Darussalam was accepted as a member of the Executive Board for a period of three years until 2027. While in Geneva, the Minister of Health held a bilateral discussion with Yang Berhormat Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, the Minister of Health of the Maldives, regarding cooperation in the field of health which is of mutual interest between the two countries and regionally.
