Over 450 students, school administration committee and faculty members as well as parents participated in the World Hindi Day 2020 celebration, organised by High Commission of India in the country. The celebration was held yesterday morning at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School.
Among those watching the performance was the granddaughter of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Raihannah Sannaul Bolkiah binti Pengiran Anak Khairul Khalil. His Exellency Ajaneesh Kumar, the High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam in his speech expressed his appreciation to the school for hosting the event which was the fourth of its kind.
Among the events lined-up during the celebration include poetry recital competition, and competition on Hindi song dance, singing and dialogue performances. The competitions, intended to provide exposure on Hindi language, were participated by 30 primary and secondary school students as well as the teachers. All the participants received certificates and books while sixteen students and 10 faculties received cash prizes for the best performances.
