Jerudong: Bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and The Philippines are rooted in historic people-to-people exchanges, geographic proximity, and a shared commitment to a peaceful and prosperous region. This was highlighted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of The Philippines to Brunei Darussalam during the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence and Nationhood Reception. The event took place at the Royal Berkshire, Tarindak D’Polo, Jerudong, on the night of September 15.
According to Radio Television Brunei, representing His Majesty’s Government at the reception was Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence. Her Excellency Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, in her speech, expressed Brunei Darussalam’s significant support for the peace process in Southern Philippines and conveyed the Philippines’ gratitude to His Majesty’s government for the assistance extended during the Badai Taduh Operation.
