ASEAN Ministers Focus on Connected Intelligence at 6th ADGMIN

Bandar seri begawan: Connectivity has historically been the cornerstone of ASEAN's strategic approach, but the region is now poised to transition towards a phase of connected intelligence, where digital connectivity is enhanced by data, analytics, and intelligent systems. This evolution aims to facilitate better decision-making, responsive public services, and improved regional coordination. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications made these remarks at the 6th ASEAN Digital Ministers' Meeting (ADGMIN) and related gatherings in Ha Noi, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the Minister, Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, highlighted that ASEAN's collective priorities are mirrored in initiatives such as the ASEAN Digital Masterplan and the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement. These initiatives focus on advancing digital public infrastructure to foster growth and digital trust. The meeting was co-chaired by His Excellency Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Science and Technology of Viet Nam, with Brunei Darussalam's Minister of Transport and Infocommunications serving as the 6th ADGMIN's Vice-Chair.

Themed "Adaptive ASEAN: From Connectivity to Connected Intelligence," the meeting also witnessed the official launch of the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2030. This plan will steer ASEAN's strategic direction over the next five years to bolster digital adaptation. Additionally, 17 ASEAN digital projects were endorsed for implementation, with Brunei Darussalam coordinating initiatives such as the ASEAN AI Skilling Framework and ASEAN Digital Trade Infrastructure (Phase 2).

During the ASEAN Digital Awards 2026, Brunei Darussalam's WilKGames was honored with the Silver Award in the Digital Content Category for their product, 'Tikus Tales'. This 3D platform game, developed by an independent studio in Brunei, blends Southeast Asian influences with global appeal. The 6th ADGMIN also featured interactions with ASEAN's Dialogue and Development Partners, including China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India, and the United States of America.
