ASEAN Teacher Education Conference 2026 Unites Academics for Educational Advancement

Cebu city: In line with the 21st Meeting of the Heads of the Association of Southeast Asian Teacher Education Network (AsTEN), the Philippine Normal University (PNU), in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education, AsTEN, and Cebu Normal University, organized the ASEAN Teacher Education Conference 2026 (AsTEC 2026). The event took place from July 2nd to 3rd in Cebu City, Republic of the Philippines, providing a platform for bridging the gap between policy and implementation across various educational scopes. The conference focused on topics such as the Fundamentals of Professional Mobility, Strengthening the ASEAN TEI Ecosystem, Teacher's Professionalism, Resilience and Well-being, Teacher's Quality Assurance and Education Policy, and Connecting Theory and Practice in Education.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the launch of AsTEC 2026 was attended by notable figures including Associate Professor Doctor Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, Ra'es of KUPU SB and Deputy Chairperson of AsTEN; Doctor Kharhan bin Haji Jait, Director of the Centre for Training and Competency Enhancement, KUPU SB, who served as the KUPU SB-AsTEN Liaison Officer; and Awang Mohammad Muslihuddin Syah bin Haji Mustafa, Director of the Centre for International Affairs and Public Relations, KUPU SB. Additionally, Universiti Brunei Darussalam was represented by Professor Doctor Haji Noor Azam bin Orang Kaya Maha Bijaya Haji Othman, Deputy Vice Chancellor of UBD.

Associate Professor Doctor Shahril bin Ahmad Razimi, Director of the Centre for Graduate Studies, KUPU SB, contributed as a presenter at AsTEC 2026. Furthermore, Doctor Kharhan bin Haji Jait participated as a forum panelist, discussing 'Policy Dialogue: University Social Responsibility and Community Extension.'

The conference, attended by regional and international academics, highlighted the involvement of KUPU SB teaching staff, fostering a mechanism for research collaboration networks. It served as a platform for sharing academic contributions and promoting a culture of academic writing and research at both national and international levels, aiming to meet the needs of people, the nation, and the ummah.
