Bandar Seri Begawan: Climate change poses increasing challenges to Brunei Darussalam, with rising temperatures, intensifying rainfall, and shifting weather patterns heightening the risks of floods, droughts, and forest fires. These factors may directly affect public health and community well-being. The Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health highlighted these issues during the Opening Ceremony for the In-Country Training Basic and Coordination Course: Disaster Health Management Capacity-Building Training Programme.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Doctor Hajah Rafidah binti Haji Gharif emphasized the need to improve disaster preparedness, response mechanisms, and inter-sectoral coordination to ensure the readiness to protect communities in times of crisis. Supported by the 'ASEAN Regional Capacity for Disaster Health Management' project, the course aimed to establish effective mechanisms for Emergency Medical Team operations, including coordination, information management, and logistical support during emergencies.
