Brunei Darussalam’s First Utility-Scale Solar Internship Cohort

Bandar seri begawan: The Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Seri Suria Power Brunei Sendirian Berhad, celebrated the completion of the first cohort of the Solar Internship Programme at the 30 Mega Watt Kampung Belimbing, Subok Solar Photovoltaic Project. Certificates of completion were presented to four trainees on the morning of June 9th.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Awang Abdul Salam bin Haji Abdul Wahab, Assistant Director of the Energy Transition Division, Department of Energy at the Prime Minister's Office, presented the certificates to two students from Politeknik Brunei and two from the Institute of Brunei Technical Education. The programme provided trainees with exposure to various aspects of the solar project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, construction, testing and commissioning, and safety practices. This initiative is part of the Skills and Capacity for Alternative Low Carbon Energy (S.C.A.L.E.) framework, led by the Department of Energy and supported by the Ministry of Education. The second cohort of the Solar Internship Programme is scheduled to take place from July to December 2026.
