Chinese Nationals Fined for Violating Brunei’s Excise Order

Temburong: Two male Chinese citizens were brought to the Temburong Magistrate's Court for offences under the Excise Order 2006.

According to Radio Television Brunei, 38-year-old Ding Yanzhong was sentenced to a fine of 10,000 Brunei Dollars or 10 months imprisonment in default for two offences, namely possessing 192 cans of alcoholic drinks of various brands and 14 sticks of cigarettes. Meanwhile, Zheng Chaohui, aged 29, received a fine of 5,000 Brunei Dollars or 5 months imprisonment in default, after being found guilty of possessing 192 cans of alcoholic drinks of various brands.

The offences were discovered during an inspection at the Labu Control Post in Temburong. All the items involved in the case were seized and are set to be destroyed.
