Bandar Seri Begawan: The First National Conference for Persons with Different Abilities in Brunei Darussalam concluded with a Closing Ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. The event was held on the afternoon of June 11th.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony was attended by Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Amdan, a Member of the Legislative Council. During the event, the Conference Resolution was presented to Dayang Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari, the Permanent Secretary for Community at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The resolution emphasized the recognition of the rights of Persons with Different Abilities, aligning with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025. The conference also highlighted ongoing challenges faced by this community, such as stigma, data gaps, and barriers in education and employment.
