Crown Prince Attends National Quran Reading Competition in Berakas

Berakas: His Royal Highness the Crown Prince attended the opening of the Final of the National Musabaqah Al-Quran Reading for Adults 1446 Hijrah/2025 at the International Convention Centre in Berakas. The event commenced early in the evening, with His Royal Highness arriving to a warm welcome.

According to Radio Television Brunei, His Royal Highness was greeted by several distinguished figures, including Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdu Kahar, Yang Dipertua of Adat Istiadat Negara, and various ministers such as Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs. His Royal Highness' brother, Prince 'Abdul Malik, was also in attendance.

The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar. The Minister of Religious Affairs delivered welcoming remarks, explaining the theme for this year's event, 'Akal Sihat Dengan Al-Qur'an,' emphasizing the benefits of Quran reading for maintaining a healthy mind and spiritual lifestyle.

The National Musabaqah Al-Qur'an Reading competition spans three nights. The first night featured six participants showcasing their Quran reading skills. The event, organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sendirian Berhad, continues with more participants scheduled to present their readings the following night.
