Bandar Seri Begawan: The 21st Annual Education World Forum, acknowledged as the largest global congregation of education and skills ministers, recently unfolded in the United Kingdom. This significant event served as a crucial platform for sharing a variety of perspectives and tackling pressing educational challenges. Representing Brunei Darussalam was Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, the nation's Minister of Education.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the forum, themed "From Stability to Growth: Building Stronger, Bolder, Better Education Together," included extensive plenary sessions and ministerial exchanges. These discussions centered on creating inclusive, responsive, and resilient education systems aimed at promoting equitable and sustainable socio-economic growth.
In addition to participating in the main forum, the Minister of Education attended the ASEAN Ministerial Roundtable on Foundational Learning. This gathering focused on the Southeast Asia Primary Learning Metrics, a regional initiative supported by the UK through the UK-ASEAN Supporting the Advancement of Girls Education programme.
Yang Berhormat also engaged in bilateral discussions with Stephen Morgan MP, the UK Minister for Early Education. These talks were aimed at enhancing collaboration between Brunei Darussalam and the United Kingdom specifically in the realm of early childhood care and education.
While in London, the Minister took the opportunity to connect with Bruneian students pursuing their studies in the UK. She conducted a Dialogue Session which also saw the participation of Doctor Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary for Core Education at Brunei's Ministry of Education.
