Bandar seri begawan: The role of senior citizens is highly valuable in contributing towards community development through sharing advice and life experiences, and providing moral support to the young generation. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, stated this at a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony in conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons 2025. The ceremony took place on 1st October afternoon at the Dewan Majlis Building.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the government truly appreciates senior citizens' contributions and will continue to provide platforms and programs so that senior citizens can remain involved as vital partners in the national development agenda.
The ceremony included a talk titled 'Meraih Barakah Dunia Akhirat' and a prize, as well as certificate presentation, to the winners of the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran for Senior Citizens Activity Centre. Also present were Members of the Legislative Council. The ceremony was organised by the Department of Community Development, in partnership with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Tutong District Senior Citizens Activity Centre.
