Knowledge Sharing Session Explores Quatrain’s Role in Bruneian Culture

Bandar Seri Begawan: Quatrain is a Malay heritage that plays a vital role in strengthening the Bruneian culture and identity. The matter was among those shared on 25th May night, during the Knowledge Sharing Session titled 'The Role of Quatrain in Songs'. The programme held at the Youth Centre was part of the 4th Nusantara Quatrain Empowerment Project 2025, organised by the Brunei Language and Literature Bureau with the support of the Mastera Member Countries of Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the session was delivered by Awang Haji Mohd. Abdoh bin Haji Awang Damit, Director of the Culture and Arts Division, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Through quatrain, the Brunei Malay language and culture can continue to be preserved and passed on to future generations. The Knowledge Sharing Programme is hoped to raise awareness and interest among the community, especially the young, towards elevating the art of quatrain as a national heritage.
