Bandar Seri Begawan: The launching of the Radiation Dosimetry Service Laboratory and the Gamma Dose Rate Monitoring Station is an important effort and continuous commitment of the Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA in enhancing radiation protection and emergency preparedness in the country. The launching of the facilities was held in conjunction with World Day for Safety and Health at Work which is celebrated every 28th of April.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the launching was officiated by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Acting Minister at the Prime Minister's Office, in his capacity as Chairman of the SHENA Board of Directors. The Radiation Dosimetry Services Laboratory acts as a service centre for radiation monitoring and enhances the protection of radiation-exposed workers in the industrial and medical sectors. Meanwhile, the Gamma Dose Rate Monitoring Station acts as a continuous monitoring system to be able to control radiation risks by detecting abnormal radiation levels in the environment.
