Bandar Seri Begawan: Several areas in the Brunei Muara and Belait Districts were targeted in ‘Operasi Panyap’. It was carried out by the National Immigration and Registration Department through the Law Enforcement Division.
According to Radio Television Brunei, during the operation at a restaurant in Mukim Liang, Kuala Belait, the documentation of three foreign nationals was inspected, resulting in one of them being detained and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation. The individual was believed to be working using a visitor pass.
Further operations on a restaurant in Mukim Sengkurong and a mini mart in Mukim Pengkalan Batu led to the detention of two foreign nationals, who were also taken for further investigation. Both individuals are believed to be working not in accordance with the positions stated in their passports.
Meanwhile, during an operation conducted on a house in Mukim Sengkurong, two foreign nationals were arrested. One of them was believed to have been overstaying in the country after the immigration pass expired, while the other was believed to be working not in accordance with the position stated in the passport.
In a separate operation on a car park area and a restaurant in Mukim Gadong ‘B’, two foreign nationals were arrested, believed to be begging for alms. One of them was believed not to be working with the original employer after failing to produce valid documents, and the other was believed to have misused a visitor pass.
