Bandar seri begawan: The Regional Islamic Media Conference 2026 has commenced at the Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, gathering local and international academics, media practitioners, and researchers to explore the evolution of Islamic media in the digital age. This three-day event, concluding on the 4th of June, centers around the theme 'Da'wah and Islamic Media in the Digital Era: Challenges, Opportunities and Transformation'. According to Radio Television Brunei, the conference was officially opened by Dato Seri Paduka Awang Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. During the keynote address, the Director General of the Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia emphasized the necessity for Islamic media to undergo a strategic, creative, and proactive transformation. This evolution is crucial to tackle the challenges posed by the digital world, including the proliferation of fake news, slander, and competing narratives. Furthermore, the conference highlighted the need to transform the da'wah model. This involves shifting from conventional methods to a more dynamic, interactive, and data-driven digital approach, while still upholding the principles and values of syariah.
