Bandar seri begawan: The Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) has announced the launch of its Anti-Scam Helpline 16993, which will begin operations on 30th August 2025, starting at 8 in the morning. The initiative is part of the RBPF's ongoing efforts to tackle cyber-crimes, particularly online fraud. According to Radio Television Brunei, the helpline will serve as a first assistance center for victims or those who suspect they have fallen prey to scams. It will provide immediate guidance and confirmation before an official police report is filed. The public is encouraged to contact 16993 promptly to prevent further losses and assist in stopping the spread of fraud. The RBPF emphasized that while the helpline offers initial support, an official report remains necessary for further investigation and legal proceedings.
