Bandar seri begawan: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, highlighted the importance of safety and strategic alignment during the 230th Board of Directors Meeting of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad (BLNG) and the 116th Board of Directors Meeting of Brunei Gas Carriers Sendirian Berhad (BGC) for the Second Quarter of 2026. The meetings were held at the Prime Minister's Office.
According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty stressed that safety should remain a priority, calling for strong leadership and disciplined execution at all levels within the companies. The Sultan also emphasized the importance of sharing and applying learnings across the organizations to enhance safety and operational performance. Additionally, His Majesty underscored the need for clear strategic priorities and forward planning, supported by robust governance, to achieve sustainable outcomes.
During his address, His Majesty acknowledged the companies' ongoing efforts to meet their plans despite a volatile and complex operating environment in the second quarter. He urged a comprehensive understanding of the business's resilience beyond performance indicators. Key areas discussed at the meetings included operational performance, financials, workforce development, and the strategic direction of the companies within the broader energy value chain.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was welcomed by key figures including Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Mohamad Azmi bin Haji Mohd. Hanifah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office for Energy, Upstream and Downstream, and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Second Minister of Finance. The meetings were attended by Shareholder Directors representing the Government of His Majesty, Shell PLC, and Mitsubishi Corporation, in addition to management members from BLNG and BGC.
His Majesty is also scheduled to chair the 419th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP) and the 197th Meeting of the Board of Directors of Brunei Shell Marketing Sdn Bhd (BSM) for the Second Quarter of 2026 on July 2, 2026.
