Thailand-Cambodia discuss measures to jointly crack down on call center gangs

Police urgently discussed with Cambodian police to take action to crack down on call center gangs and coordinated to extradite over 100 suspects to be prosecuted in Thailand. Pol. Gen. Kittirat was assigned by the National Police Chief to announce the results after the meeting that the meeting arose from a joint discussion between Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Samdech Maha Vajiralongkorn Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, who jointly discussed measures to suppress the call center gangs, which are a new threat that seriously affects the people of both countries. Therefore, he ordered the National Police Chiefs of both Thailand and Cambodia to urgently discuss the meeting. In today's meeting, they jointly discussed and exchanged information about the incident, including the context of both countries that has changed from the threat of the call center gangs, information about locations in Cambodia that are believed to be the locations of the call center gangs, and information about foreigners who are involved in the call center gangs, so that the Cambodian police can jointly investigate and operate together in the future, and Cambodia is willing to cooperate. In addition, there is information about perpetrators in Thailand who are hiding in Cambodia and using it as a base to deceive Thais. Therefore, cooperation has been requested from Cambodia to extradite over 100 Thais with arrest warrants related to the call center gang to be prosecuted according to Thai law. After this, a joint working group will be established between the two countries to exchange information and joint methods of operation, both in the investigation and suppression of the call center gang. They will travel to Cambodia next week to discuss and set directions and plan joint operations, focusing on the call center gang. Currently, both countries are in the process of determining police personnel to join the working group, and Thai officials are ready to accept proposals for cooperation on suppressing trade from Cambodia and other matt ers to return and assign to responsible agencies in Thailand to continue working together.
