Tutong: His Royal Highness Prince Doctor Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, inaugurated the 15th Mahrajan Haflut Takharruj or Convocation Festival of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA). The event took place on the morning of 11th August at UNISSA’s Sinaut Campus in the Tutong District, with the theme ‘Sustainable Development of Agri-Halal Business.’
According to Radio Television Brunei, the Pro-Chancellor of UNISSA, His Royal Highness, was received by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Dr. Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd. Salleh, Minister of Education, and Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, the Rector of UNISSA. The event commenced with the reading of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa, led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.
The festival highlighted UNISSA’s role in promoting the sustainable development of the Agri-Halal industry. A key exhibition showcased research by students from the Halalan Thayyiban Research Centre, including the Morphological, Meristic, and Molecular Identification Project for Brunei Marine and Freshwater Fish and Shellfish.
Other projects featured in the exhibition included a freshwater fish breeding initiative, a Rice Production model based on the Urban Agriculture concept, an aquaponics mini-project, and an Irrigation Management system based on Weather Data. His Royal Highness also inaugurated the Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism and launched new books published by UNISSA.
The Mahrajan Haflut Takharuj is part of the activities leading up to UNISSA’s Haflut Takharruj, scheduled for the 21st of August.
