Kuala Lumpur: His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, addressed the 16th Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit, sharing insights into the subregion's development over the past three decades. His Majesty highlighted significant advancements in trade, investment, and tourism, stressing the need for a re-evaluation of achievements as the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025 draws to a close. The aim is to ensure the subregion's progress aligns with the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
According to Radio Television Brunei, His Majesty delivered his remarks at the summit held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. He welcomed initiatives to restructure and expand Economic Corridors to attract investment opportunities and stimulate growth. His Majesty emphasized the importance of equitable benefits for all member countries, ensuring that no nation is left behind in the development process.
His Majesty also highlighted the necessity of strengthening BIMP-EAGA's institutional mechanisms, advocating for the establishment of a full-fledged secretariat to enable more focused and coordinated cooperation among member states.
