Kampung tagap: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), through its ‘Halloween Operation,’ conducted a raid on a homestay in Kampung Tagap, Mukim Sengkurong. The raid targeted a Halloween-themed party held in early November 2025. Out of 57 attendees, 32 individuals aged between 22 and 38 were detained on suspicion of involvement in drug abuse activities.
According to Radio Television Brunei, during the operation, the NCB seized three types of controlled substances: 24.99 grams of Ketamine, 31.04 grams of Ecstasy, and a pill of Erimin 5. These drugs have an estimated market value exceeding $2,500 Brunei dollars, sufficient to serve at least 200 users. Additionally, authorities confiscated $1,785 Brunei dollars in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, a vehicle allegedly used for drug-related activities, and equipment for drug packaging, including small transparent packets, straw cuts, and a digital weighing machine.
Beyond controlled substances, the operation also uncovered alcoholic beverages, cigarettes, and electronic cigarettes or vapes, which were seized. The case was subsequently turned over to the Royal Customs and Excise Department for further investigation.
The NCB’s findings revealed that the event involved illegal gatherings and social activities that contravened national laws and cultural norms, such as drug abuse and the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Investigations determined that an individual among the arrested organized the party, renting the homestay in Kampung Tagap and charging an entrance fee of $15 Brunei dollars. The organizer was also involved in selling various drugs, including Ketamine, Ecstasy, and Erimin Five. It was also discovered that several detainees were graduates, with two belonging to a uniformed group.
In response to the incident, the NCB urged young individuals to think critically and avoid social settings that expose them to unlawful activities with potentially long-term negative consequences. Premise owners were also advised to be vigilant about the purposes for which their properties are rented, ensuring they are not used for illegal activities. The NCB expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation from enforcement agencies that contributed to the success of the operation.
